Nedim Mulić happened to be at the scene of the accident in Živinice and without hesitation rushed to help, with witnesses and the defense minister praising his act of bravery.
A member of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lieutenant Nedim Mulić, demonstrated exceptional courage and composure when he saved a mother and her baby from a car that flipped onto its roof in Živinice on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
Mulić happened to be at the scene of the traffic accident and reacted immediately. Together with a member of the Ministry of Interior (MUP), he managed to safely extract the mother and child from the damaged vehicle, the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
"His courage, composure, and selflessness as an example of humanity in a critical moment were publicly praised by professional firefighter Aljo Aljić, who witnessed the event, as well as by other citizens who subsequently joined in providing assistance," the statement from the BiH Ministry of Defense reads.
A reaction also came from the very top. The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zukan Helez, decided to financially reward Lieutenant Mulić for his displayed courage, humanity, and selflessness. This move confirms how much the willingness to help citizens in their most difficult moments is valued.
From the Ministry of Defense, they stated that such actions are not isolated cases. "This act once again confirms that members of the BiH Armed Forces, in addition to their professional readiness, demonstrate solidarity, humanity, and a willingness to help citizens when help is most needed," the Ministry announced.
The accident occurred in Živinice, and the swift and decisive intervention of Lieutenant Mulić and the MUP member prevented potentially more severe consequences for the mother and her baby.
