A Sunday scene of four adults on a paddleboard and a child in a children's inflatable boat in the middle of one of Dalmatia's busiest sea routes stunned witnesses and sparked sharp reactions.
What was supposed to be another peaceful Sunday at sea turned into a scene that left boaters in shock. A reader of the Morski HR portal captured an unprecedented display of reckless behavior on Sunday afternoon, August 10, 2026, on one of the Adriatic's busiest routes.
The footage shows a group of four adults paddling on a single paddleboard from the island of Prvić toward Srima. However, what particularly stunned everyone present was the fact that they were towing a child seated in a simple children's inflatable beach boat. The entire unprotected convoy was crossing the Šibenik Channel, a waterway used daily by yachts, speedboats, ferries, and excursion boats.
"This afternoon, we were out on a boat near Prvić. This crew, four of them casually on a paddleboard, with a small inflatable beach boat trailing behind, and a kid in it. And heading straight for Srima, 'dead calm' across one of the busiest channels in Dalmatia," recounted the horrified reader who filmed this dangerous feat.
The disbelief among the gathered boaters culminated in a brief and sharp remark from a witness. "There are no normal people, they just haven't all been examined. A psychiatrist would have something to say," the Morski HR reader said, summing up the sense of incredulity that prevailed among witnesses to this risky move.
This incident is yet another in a series of events that force the Harbor Master's Office and experts to repeat constant warnings. Users of paddleboards and inflatable toys are urged year after year not to venture beyond the 300-meter belt from the shore. Crossing shipping lanes, especially busy ones like the Šibenik Channel, poses a huge risk. Just one sudden wave from a large vessel, a gust of wind, or a moment of inattention is enough to capsize a child's inflatable boat, and the consequences in such a busy environment can be fatal.
