Samobor Secures 200 Euros for High School Students' Textbooks

The City of Samobor will again this year provide financial assistance to families of high school students. It has been announced that all students residing in Samobor who meet the prescribed conditions will receive a one-time allowance of 200 euros for the purchase of textbooks and other educational materials for the school year 2026/2027.
This measure is already an established practice of the city administration, aimed at easing household budgets during back-to-school preparations. The information was published on the official website of the City of Samobor on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
In addition to supporting high school students, the City of Samobor will provide workbooks and other supplementary educational materials for primary school students in its area, as well as welcome gifts for first-graders, while free textbooks are funded by the state. Samobor thus joins a number of towns and municipalities in the Zagreb area, such as Velika Gorica, Dugo Selo, Rugvica, Jakovlje, and Dubrava, which have announced co-financing of education costs for the new school year, from workbooks and textbooks to extended stay programs.
Eligible for support are regular high school students who are Croatian citizens and have registered residence in the Samobor area. It is important to note that students attending high schools in the City of Zagreb are not eligible. The reason is that students in Zagreb receive textbooks from the City of Zagreb, thus avoiding double funding.
An additional condition is that the student has not already received textbooks or funds for them from another source, i.e., from another local self-government unit. The support is intended exclusively for those who cover this cost themselves.
Applications are accepted from August 24 to September 21, 2026. Citizens can submit them in several ways:
Along with the prescribed application form, which can be downloaded from the City's website, appropriate documentation must be attached. Adult students must provide a certificate of enrollment in high school for 2026/2027, proof of Croatian citizenship (copy of ID card, birth certificate, or passport), and proof of residence. For minor students, the application is submitted by a parent or guardian, who must attach their own proof of citizenship and residence in addition to the child's documentation.
The one-time allowance of 200 euros will be paid out at the FINA branch in Samobor, at Ulica Ljudevita Gaja 2. The deadline for collecting the money is from September 28 to October 24, 2026. When collecting, applicants must present a valid ID card and proof of their personal identification number (OIB).
