HEP-Operator of the Distribution System has announced that all consumers in the Omiš area and its surroundings, affected by the fire, have been reconnected to the electricity grid. This completes the major restoration of the power system, which suffered significant damage during the large fire on August 13, 2026.
Approximately 2,200 users in the areas of Bork, Nemira, Balići Rat, Stanići, Ruskamen, Ivašnjaci, Lokva Rogoznica, Čelina, Vrisovac, and Brzet were left without electricity. The fire damaged around 280 poles, of which 100 were on the medium-voltage network and 180 on the low-voltage network.
A complicating factor during the restoration was that most of the damaged poles were located in difficult-to-access terrains. In addition to overhead lines, underground cables were also damaged in areas where they were directly exposed to the fire and extremely high temperatures.
Around 200 workers from Elektrodalmacija Split were engaged daily in the network restoration. The operation involved workers from regional offices in Omiš, Makarska, Ploče, Metković, Vrgorac, Imotski, Sinj, and Split.
Work began in the early morning hours of August 15, 2026, and lasted for several days with continuous on-site engagement. Volunteers also provided support to the workers, and the common goal was to supply electricity to all affected households as quickly as possible.
Such damage extended the return of electricity to some users, but HEP has confirmed that supply has now been re-established across the entire fire-affected area. HEP-Operator of the Distribution System expressed gratitude to all services that participated in mitigating the consequences of the fire, as well as to the many volunteers who assisted workers during this challenging operation.
