The Tornado Zadar fan association has launched a fundraising campaign to purchase backpack sprayers and fire-resistant equipment, stating they want to help firefighters defend homes along the Croatian coast.
The fan association Tornado Zadar has initiated a campaign to collect money for the purchase of basic firefighting equipment, primarily backpack sprayers and fire-resistant protective clothing. The association states they do not intend to take on the role of firefighters, but neither do they plan to passively watch as fire consumes their homeland.
Tornado emphasizes that since the time of the Homeland War, they have always stood by their people and homeland in the most difficult moments, whether it involved war suffering, floods, earthquakes, fires, or other major disasters that have struck Croatia. In recent years, they have repeatedly participated and assisted at fire sites across Croatian settlements and cities.
"Fires are becoming more intense and destructive year after year, and on specific dates and at the most sensitive moments, they hit the Croatian coast, devastating everything in their path and stretching firefighting and military forces for kilometers along Dalmatia, pushing them to the limits of endurance," stated the Tornado Zadar fan association.
As the association points out, the price of one higher-quality backpack sprayer is approximately 200 euros, and procuring a larger number of units along with appropriate protective equipment represents a cost they cannot cover on their own. Therefore, they have turned to the public for financial support.
"We want to be ready to help defend homes and property, extinguish small hotspots, prevent the spread of fire, and relieve our firefighters when their forces are stretched along the entire coast," added Tornado.
Donations are accepted in monetary funds as well as in firefighting and protective equipment. The account number for payments is HR1924070003207129529, in the name of Matej Jurjević, OTP bank, with the payment description "Donacija".
As reported by Zadarski list, the association emphasizes that these fires were not the first and certainly will not be the last.
