An unusual sequence of events unfolded on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in the parking lot of a shopping center in the Trogir area, where a 29-year-old female driver committed four violations in just a few minutes. What began as a traffic accident with material damage quickly escalated into a serious case that resulted in her imprisonment.
According to information from Slobodna Dalmacija, the incident began between 6 and 7 PM. The 29-year-old was driving a passenger car and performed a semicircular reversing maneuver. During this, she struck another parked vehicle, causing a traffic accident that, fortunately, resulted only in material damage.
When police officers arrived at the scene, the situation became significantly more complex. It was established that the woman had gotten behind the wheel despite having her driver's license revoked. However, that was not the end of her legal troubles. When a police officer requested that she undergo testing for the presence of drugs in her system, she refused.
During further processing, police also found a small amount of marijuana on the 29-year-old. Thus, in a single incident, a total of four violations were recorded, one of which pertains to the Law on Combating Drug Abuse, and the remaining to the Road Traffic Safety Act.
What adds particular weight to the entire case is the fact that this is not the first episode of irresponsible behavior in traffic. As stated by the police, the 29-year-old is known as a repeat traffic offender who has been reported multiple times in the past for committing serious traffic violations. It is precisely this history that crucially influenced the further course of events and the severity of the proposed sanctions.
Due to her previous behavior and the evident risk of reoffending, the police submitted a proposal to the court for her detention. Additionally, a prison sentence of 60 days, a fine, and a protective measure banning her from driving a motor vehicle for 12 months were proposed. The court accepted the proposal for detention, after which the 29-year-old was handed over to prison.
