Daniil Peredriy, the 27-year-old son-in-law of Colonel General Alexander Chayko, commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS), has died from injuries sustained in an explosion that occurred on August 1, 2026, at the Balzi Rossi restaurant in Moscow. News of his death was confirmed on August 5, as reported by the Russian media outlet Agentstvo, citing data from the Unified Register of Individual Entrepreneurs and the cancellation of his personal document on the very day of the attack.
The explosion took place on Kudrinskaya Square in central Moscow when an unidentified woman attempted to bring an improvised explosive device into the restaurant, presenting it as a "gift." According to information released by Clash Report, the device contained approximately 1 kg of TNT and was packed with ball bearings. A security guard stopped her at the entrance, where the device detonated.
Russia's National Anti-Terrorism Committee confirmed that three people died initially: the attacker, the security guard, and one guest. The death toll eventually rose to five. The number of injured varies by source; Clash Report cites "around 19 injured," while Ukrainska Pravda reports 21 injured.
The restaurant was closed to the public that evening for a private event. According to pro-Russian blogs and Telegram channels, the private party was organized for the 55th birthday of General Alexander Chayko.
