The Primorje-Gorski Kotar Police Department reported 376 traffic violations over the weekend. The record holders are a 52-year-old with 2.27 g/kg of alcohol and a driver who sped at 203 km/h on the A6 motorway.
The police recorded as many as 376 traffic violations over the past weekend in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, and in the 56 reported accidents, 13 people were injured-five sustained serious and eight minor injuries, according to data from the report published on Monday.
By far the most violations, 108 of them, were for speeding. Alcohol was the trigger in 25 cases, while 39 drivers and passengers were caught without seat belts, and four were improperly using their mobile phones while driving.
The highest blood alcohol concentration was measured on August 8, 2026, at around 1:45 a.m. in Mali Lošinj-a 52-year-old motorcyclist with Rijeka license plates was found to have 2.27 g/kg of alcohol in his system. It was determined that he was driving in the wrong direction while intoxicated, and his driver's license had also expired.
He was detained in official premises until the effects of the intoxicating substance wore off, and he faces a misdemeanor charge with a fine of 1,670 euros and a four-month driving ban.
On the same day, at 11:40 a.m., the highest illegal speed was recorded on the A6 motorway near Zečeva Draga-a passenger vehicle was speeding at 203 km/h on a section where the speed limit is 100 km/h. The driver will be penalized according to the rules of the Road Traffic Safety Act.
A particularly serious case was recorded by police interceptors when they stopped a passenger vehicle with Karlovac license plates. Behind the wheel was a 56-year-old Croatian citizen who was driving while under protective measures banning him from driving category "B" vehicles.
The police arrested the driver and took him for an urgent misdemeanor proceeding, and his vehicle was seized. The competent court has been proposed a fine of 2,650 euros, a 60-day prison sentence, and a protective measure banning him from driving category "B" vehicles for 12 months-along with the permanent confiscation of the vehicle.
In addition to these more serious violations, there were also five cases of driving without a license, two cases of driving despite a ban, four cases of driving unregistered or defective vehicles, and 189 other traffic violations.
