The historic core of the town of Krk will once again come alive in a medieval atmosphere from August 8 to 10, 2026. The Lovrečeva event features a spectacular procession of the Princes of Krk Frankopan, performances by Magazin and Prljavo kazalište, a rich fair program, and a series of workshops and gastronomic experiences, as reported by Fiuman.hr.

A procession that opens the doors to the past

The central event of the first day, on Saturday, August 8 at 8:30 PM, will be a grand medieval procession. According to Fiuman.hr, participants will include Karoloboom, Karlovac Drummers, the Maura Kal Archery Club, the Princes of Krk Frankopan, the Town Guard of Bakar, the Krk Archery Club, the Friends of Trsat Club, and the Kaštel Svetvinčenat Historical Association. The procession will wind through the town and lead visitors to Kamplin Square, where the official opening of the Krk Fair follows at 9:00 PM, and at 9:30 PM an impressive fire show performance.

Throughout all three days, visitors can view knightly equipment, take photos with knights, and watch displays of knightly skills and combat. On Sunday and Monday, there will also be a guided walk through the town with the Princes of Krk Frankopan. For the youngest, on Monday, August 10 at 8:00 PM, a performance titled "Frankopani i skriveno blago" (The Frankopans and the Hidden Treasure) by the Association of the Princes of Krk Frankopan is planned, while at 9:30 PM an adult archery tournament organized by the Maura Kal Archery Club will take place.

Workshops, Glagolitic script, and street entertainers

Lovrečeva invites visitors to actively participate. On Kamplin Square, creative workshops are organized daily, from making watercolor bookmarks on Saturday, to medieval hairstyles and shell jewelry on Sunday, to crafting dried flower wreaths and clay pendants with Glagolitic script on Monday. Every morning at 9:30 AM, there will be a honey extraction demonstration, and in the afternoons, Makovi street jesters will roam the town streets.

A special place is reserved for the Glagolitic Scriptorium of the Čakavian Sabor Kornić Chapter, which on Sunday and Monday from 8:30 PM to 11:00 PM will offer a direct encounter with the script deeply rooted in the identity of the island of Krk.

A fair with nearly forty exhibitors

The heart of the event remains the fair on Kamplin Square, Koprivić, Veli Park, and Vela Placa. Nearly forty exhibitors will present their handicrafts, traditional products, natural cosmetics, and island delicacies. Among them are holders of the "Dar iz Krka" (Gift from Krk) label, such as OPG Magriž with olive oil and sheep cheese, OPG Rimbaldo with fig cakes, and OPG Elena with fresh fruits and vegetables. KuSshh will showcase products made from Mediterranean herbs, and Piccola Stella will display handmade jewelry and ceramics.

A gastronomic experience at multiple locations

The gastronomic offering of Lovrečeva spans several town points. At Ribarski mul (Fishermen's Pier), the Taste of Summer pop-up zone will open, offering creative bites, while the Authentic Food Corner serves contemporary interpretations of traditional Krk flavors. Visitors can sample dishes such as cuttlefish brudet with polenta and pulled lamb burger with Krk skuta cheese. Destilerija Suza will bring liqueurs and brandies, Thomas Henry a cocktail truck, and Tonkine fritule the famous pastry in both sweet and savory versions.

At Krušija, KuSshh will present the first Krk gin, and Katunar, Estate Winery will offer several types of žlahtina and Plavac mali. At Škverić, roasted lamb and chicken will be prepared, and the family company Mariolina, which has been nurturing the tradition of producing authentic Krk šurlice for over 30 years, will offer homemade šurlice with goulash.

Storytelling walks and musical evenings

For those who wish to delve deeper into the town, free storytelling walks in English, titled "From Karst to Gold," are organized on August 8 and 10 at 7:30 PM. The walk starts at Trg krčkih glagoljaša (Square of Krk Glagolites) and reveals stories about health, musical heritage, and hospitality, symbolized by the inscription "ostium non hostium" on the old portal in Zrinska Street. The evening program on the Krk waterfront brings stars of the Croatian music scene. On Saturday, August 8, at 9:30 PM, Magazin performs, followed by Dellboys at 11:45 PM. The closing night on Monday, August 10, at 9:00 PM features a promenade performance by the Krk Town Band, followed by Prljavo kazalište at 9:30 PM, and from 11:15 PM, Infinity Band Croatia. Music will also resonate on Vela Placa with performances by the Poljica Folklore Society, Klapa Vejanke, and other local ensembles.
