Bol Gets 150 New Berths in €16 Million Port Upgrade

The Port Authority of Split-Dalmatia County has launched one of the most significant infrastructure projects on the island of Brač: a major expansion of the Port of Bol. This investment, estimated at approximately €16 million, will provide this prominent island hub with modern facilities, improved infrastructure, and a fresh boost for the growth of the local economy and tourism.
The new port is being built on a site east of the existing one, and a new promenade will give the project a distinctive urban touch, functionally and aesthetically connecting the old and new parts of Bol's harbor.
Upon completion, Bol will resolve its long-standing shortage of berths, both for local residents and for the many sailors who visit this destination. The project provides 80 new nautical berths for guests and 70 new communal berths for local residents, totaling 150 new berths.
The project also includes the construction of a main breakwater with an impressive length of 210 meters, modern pontoon moorings, and supporting onshore and energy port infrastructure. The new infrastructure will drastically increase the safety of maritime traffic in Bol's waters, ensure better protection of vessels from adverse weather conditions, and enhance the quality of life for islanders and the experience of visitors.
Unlike typical construction pauses during the summer months, the Bol construction site is operating at full speed. In fact, the pace of work is currently ahead of the contracted schedule. To meet the needs of both the construction sector and tourism, a compromise has been reached: during the summer season, work is carried out only during a specific period from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with special organization and methods that ensure minimal noise, so as not to disturb hotel guests and beach visitors.
This ambitious project by the Port Authority does not stop at the new eastern basin. Plans for the second phase of the project are already defined, which will further strengthen Bol as an essential maritime hub. The next phase of investment includes the construction of a modern catamaran terminal to enable faster and safer handling of scheduled ferry services, the rehabilitation and extension of the existing pier, and the addition of another 50 meters of coastline, completing the vision of a new, functional, and modern port ready to meet the challenges of maritime traffic in the decades to come.
