In Drniš, construction has begun on the second and third phases of the bypass, a project expected to relieve the town of transit traffic and improve transport connectivity. The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković, Šibenik-Knin County Prefect Paško Rakić, Drniš Mayor Tomislav Dželalija, and Ivica Budimir, Director of Croatian Roads.
According to Šibenski kanal, citing Radio Drniš, the contractor was officially brought in today, August 19, 2026. Slobodna Dalmacija, however, reports that construction began on Tuesday, August 18. The sources do not agree on the exact start date.
The project includes more than nine kilometers of roadway, specifically 9.1 kilometers according to Slobodna Dalmacija. The second and third phases involve the construction of the Badanj and Kujundžići viaducts, the Sv. Ivan overpass, an underpass, and a new bridge over the Čikola River approximately 220 meters long. Numerous intersections and roundabouts are also planned.
The bypass is of strategic importance for Drniš and the entire Šibenik-Knin County, and part of the route will also form a section of the future expressway Šibenik, Drniš, Knin, BiH border. This will significantly contribute to the advancement of the transport network and improve connectivity in the region.
The contracting authority is Croatian Roads, and the contractor is the joint venture of TEXO MOLIOR d.o.o. from Cavtat and CGP d.d. from Slovenia. The contracted value of the works is €38.5 million excluding VAT, which amounts to €48.1 million including VAT, with a planned duration of 30 months.
Minister Butković also announced works on roads D33 towards Knin and D56 towards Split, as well as the reconstruction of the railway station in Drniš.
"One goes towards Knin, the other towards Muć, i.e., Split, and the total value of the renovation of both roads is around €34 million. A tender has already been published for one, and the other is in preparation. In a few days, we will also sign a contract for the renovation of the Drniš railway station, worth a total of €7.5 million," Butković said for Radio Drniš, as reported by Šibenski kanal.
