Beli Manastir is gearing up for Croatia's biggest fish stew festival, which will take place on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Antun Mihanović Park will become the heart of the Baranja region's competition in cooking this traditional delicacy, and the event features a double competition and a rich music program.
Two Championships in One Day
Chefs will gather starting at 4 PM, and an hour later, at exactly 5 PM, the Croatian Fish Stew Cooking Championship kicks off. Contestants will compete for the prestigious title of the country's best fish stew master. At 6 PM, the Baranja Fish Stew Cooking Championship takes the stage, where a new regional king of this delicacy will be crowned.
What the 60-Euro Entry Fee Includes
Applications for participation are already open via the online form on the Baranja Tourist Board website. The entry fee is 60 euros, which includes three kilograms of fish, bread, plates, spoons, firewood, a table for eight, and an apron for the chef. Organizers have thus provided nearly everything needed to start cooking.
Music Program from Tamburitza to Late Hours
In addition to the competitive part, visitors can enjoy a music program starting at 7 PM with a performance by the tamburitza band Lutalice. The winners' announcement is scheduled for 8:30 PM, followed by performer Lege taking the stage at 9 PM. The event will conclude with the Mišomanija program starting at 11 PM.
