On Saturday, August 29, 2026, the 31st Fišijada in Nard is scheduled-an event that has been nurturing the tradition of preparing fiš for over three decades and attracts an ever-growing number of competitors and visitors year after year.

The Oldest Competition in Croatia

The Fišijada in Nard holds the title of the oldest fish stew cooking competition in Croatia and has held the status of a national semifinal competition since 2019. The fact that the City of Valpovo and its suburban settlements boast numerous finalists and national champions in this discipline confirms that this is a serious gastronomic tradition.

Event Schedule

Competitors gather at 4:30 PM at the Community Center in Nard, with cooking starting an hour later at 5:30 PM. Samples are submitted one hour after cooking begins, while the Širokobriješki dukati will provide musical entertainment throughout the day.

Winners will be announced at 9:30 PM, and at 10 PM, Giuliano takes the stage. After midnight, visitors can enjoy a tombola and continued musical performances, again with the Širokobriješki dukati.
