Food enthusiasts and lovers of local delicacies now have a new destination to explore Krk. On Saturday, August 8, 2026, the island's Tourist Board unveiled the official website of the Krk Made project, a digital hub that showcases the diverse culinary and wine scene of the largest Adriatic island in one place.
The new platform is designed as a guide to the offerings of more than 40 establishments-from restaurants and taverns to wineries and family farms. The goal is to make it easy for guests to plan a gastronomic tour and discover the stories behind the products and dishes. The site is currently available in three languages: Croatian, English, and German. An Italian version is also planned for the near future, and the content will be enriched over time with new stories and badge holders.
The launch was preceded by extensive fieldwork. Research and visits to hospitality venues and producers across the island were conducted, based on which those who met the strict criteria for the "Krk Made" badge were selected. To ensure all participants present themselves in the best possible light, an extensive database of visual and textual materials was created, capturing various aspects of the island's cuisine.
At the forefront are the indigenous products for which Krk is known. The platform highlights Vrbnik Žlahtina, extra virgin olive oil, Krk lamb, island cheeses, honey, and seasonal ingredients, as well as the restaurants and taverns that craft authentic dishes from them.
"Behind every exceptional dish, glass of Žlahtina, bottle of olive oil, or local product stands a person-their knowledge, dedication, and love for the island. That's exactly why we launched the Krk Made project: to connect and showcase those who, through their work, preserve Krk's identity and create experiences that guests remember," said Petar Škarpa, Director of the Krk Island Tourist Board.
Škarpa emphasized that this is the first time all badge holders have been gathered in one place. The new site, he added, should become a key tool for promoting the island's gastronomy and local production.
The project is being carried out under the leadership of the Krk Island Tourist Board, with strong support from the Croatian National Tourist Board, along with active cooperation from local governments and island tourist boards. The expert selection of badge holders was entrusted to renowned Krk chefs: Dražen Lesica, Marin Pleše, and Ivica Lužina. Their task was to identify those whose work best preserves and promotes the island's gastronomic identity.
The core idea of the project is to connect local producers, winemakers, and hospitality providers to offer visitors a clear and attractive overview of the places and flavors through which they can experience Krk's rich culinary tradition.
